The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has reaffirmed its commitment to football development and international collaboration following the presentation of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the SLFA and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

SLFA President Babadi Kamara presented the landmark agreement to the Association’s Executive Committee on Thursday, August 20, 2026, during a meeting at the SLFA Secretariat Board Room.

The presentation provided an opportunity for President Kamara to brief Executive Committee members on the strategic partnership and its potential long-term benefits for football development in Sierra Leone.

The two-year renewable MOU was signed on August 17, 2026, in Rabat, by President Kamara and FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa. The agreement is designed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two football federations and promote cooperation through the exchange of expertise, resources and technical knowledge.

Key areas covered by the partnership include capacity building for technical and administrative staff, referee development, youth football advancement, football workshops and friendly matches involving both men’s and women’s national teams.

A major component of the agreement is infrastructure development, including support for the establishment of a technical training ground in a vulnerable community in Sierra Leone. The facility is expected to expand grassroots football opportunities and support the development of young players.

The MOU also provides opportunities for SLFA personnel to participate in training and observation programmes in Morocco, allowing technical and administrative staff to gain exposure to Morocco’s football development systems and expertise.

In addition, the partnership will provide access to specialised sports injury hospital services, strengthening support for players and football personnel while contributing to improved sports medicine capacity.

The SLFA said the agreement reflects its broader commitment to building strategic international partnerships and creating opportunities for football development at technical, administrative, grassroots and national-team levels.
