Sierra Leone is set to benefit from Morocco’s football development expertise following a new cooperation agreement between the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

The two federations have agreed to deepen collaboration in technical training, administration, refereeing, youth development and other areas aimed at strengthening football structures in Sierra Leone.

The partnership, signed in Rabat by SLFA President Babadi Kamara and FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa, will provide opportunities for Sierra Leonean football officials and technical personnel to participate in training and observation programmes organised by the Moroccan federation.

Referee development is also a key area of cooperation, with both federations expected to work together to improve the capacity and expertise of match officials.

The agreement further provides for football workshops and friendly matches involving senior and youth national teams, with both men’s and women’s football included in the partnership.

Beyond technical development, the cooperation will support football infrastructure in Sierra Leone. One of the planned initiatives is the establishment of a technical training ground in a vulnerable community, providing young players with improved opportunities to develop their skills.

The partnership also creates avenues for cooperation in sports medicine, including access to specialised hospital facilities for sports-related injuries and support for player welfare.

The agreement will initially run for two years, with the possibility of renewal based on mutual agreement.

The cooperation with Morocco is expected to give Sierra Leonean football stakeholders greater exposure to established training, administrative and player-development systems while strengthening sporting ties between the two countries.
