A man suspected of impersonating a legal practitioner for several years has been arrested at the Waterloo Magistrate Court after allegedly appearing in court and representing clients without being qualified to practise law.

The suspect was apprehended on Thursday, August 27, 2026, after he reportedly appeared before Magistrate Shaka P. Kamara, popularly known as Shaka P, and attempted to enter the Magistrate’s Chambers to seek bail for a client.

Information from the court indicates that the suspect had allegedly received NLe10,000 in connection with the representation. His conduct at the court reportedly attracted attention, prompting questions about his identity, legal credentials and appearance.

The matter reportedly came to a head when Barrister Abdul A. Kamara of Nicol-Wilson & Co., Malaika Chamber, confronted the suspect and questioned him about his status as a legal practitioner.

During the exchange, the suspect allegedly admitted to posing as a lawyer for about five years. He reportedly claimed that he had represented a number of clients in different parts of Sierra Leone and said he was affiliated with Glorious Chamber.

Following his apprehension at the court premises, the suspect was reportedly handed over to the Sierra Leone Police, where he is currently in custody as investigations continue.
