The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) has rebroadcast coverage of the TDA-INTL Summit held in Columbus, Ohio, as organisers prepare for a major community awareness and cultural event in Waterloo, Sierra Leone.

The summit, which took place on October 16 and 17, was previously reported to have attracted an international audience of approximately one million viewers. Following requests for the coverage to be aired again, SLBC broadcast the programme on Sunday, October 25, featuring additional video footage and interviews to provide viewers with further insight into the summit and its activities.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the forthcoming Tarekom event in Waterloo, which will focus on addressing social challenges affecting young people and communities across Sierra Leone.

The initiative is expected to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and early child marriage, while promoting women’s empowerment and opportunities for young people.

Organisers are also expecting participation from people across different ethnic groups and communities, alongside community leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations and non-governmental organisations.

The gathering is intended to provide a platform for community engagement, public education and collaboration in tackling social challenges affecting the country.

In addition to its awareness-raising activities, the event will feature cultural performances by local artists, celebrating Sierra Leone’s cultural diversity and bringing people together.

The organisers have invited members of the public and relevant stakeholders to participate in the event, which they say will combine social awareness, cultural expression and community empowerment.
