Princewaleans Storm Parliament to Support New Finance Minister and Chairman of Teaching Hospital Board

Members of the Old Princewaleans Association (OPWA) on Thursday, August 20, 2026, stormed the Parliament of Sierra Leone to celebrate and support two distinguished old boys of the Prince of Wales School following their appointment and confirmation to key national positions.

The two Princewaleans are Princewalean Kargbo, who has been appointed and confirmed as Minister of Finance, and Princewalean Professor Gibrilla Fadlu Deen, who has been appointed and confirmed as Chairman of the Teaching Hospitals Complex Administration Board.

Their appointments were formally approved and confirmed by Parliament during proceedings in the well of Parliament on Thursday, marking a significant moment of pride for the Prince of Wales School community.

The presence of OPWA members in Parliament was seen as a demonstration of solidarity and institutional pride as the two former students take on critical responsibilities in the governance and development of Sierra Leone.

In a congratulatory message, OPWA described the appointments as a recognition of excellence, service and leadership, expressing confidence that the two appointees would bring to their new responsibilities the discipline, integrity and commitment to nation-building associated with their years at Prince of Wales.

“OPWA is immensely proud of this recognition of excellence, service, and leadership,” the association stated, adding that it has no doubt that both gentlemen will demonstrate the same values that characterised their time as Princewaleans.

The association further wished the newly confirmed officials success as they assume their respective national responsibilities, while expressing optimism that their experience and leadership will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Sierra Leone.

For the Old Princewaleans, the confirmation of Kargbo and Professor Deen represents not only a personal achievement for the two distinguished alumni but also another proud chapter in the long history of Prince of Wales School in producing individuals who continue to serve the nation in diverse capacities.

The Old Princewaleans Association reaffirmed its pride in the achievements of its members and extended its best wishes to the two newly confirmed officials as they begin their respective assignments.
