The NPPA boss who is nationally known for exceeding philanthropy in different spheres has on Thursday 27th October 2022, through his Authority’s representatives, donated Five (5) Tons of iron rod & Eighty (80) bags of Sierra Leone-Made-Cement to the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists in Kenema, for the speedy completion of an ongoing SLAJ building project at Maada Bio Street in Kenema.

The structure will be used as a Regional secretariat for SLAJ in the Eastern Region, with offices for related organizations when completed.

According to sources close to the recipients, the donation came at a material time when the Journalists Association is in dire need, considering their long-standing break due to financial shortages.

It is no secret that the regional body of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists has tirelessly knocked on so many doors, longing for aid to complete their project but it has always been fruitless.

But as God could have it, the philanthropy of the Chief Executive of the National Public Procurement Authority had from the onset saved the Association on the venture.

Handing over the building materials, the Deputy media education and communications officer, Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray’s Foundation Stated that the gesture is in fulfilment of Mr Swarray’s promise in December 2020 to support the project when he met the leadership of SLAJ East.

Mustapha Sheriff said because of the beliefs his Boss had in President Bio, he will do everything to boost up the visions of the new direction.

It could be recalled that the president had not only repealed the obnoxious libel laws which guaranteed press freedom but has on several occasions empowered journalists and boosted press-related activities and Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray is one of his few appointees footing on that path.

Receiving the items, SLAJ’s Eastern Region Chairlady, Madam Victoria Bernard registered enormous appreciation, Branding Chief Swarray as “A MOSES” to the project.

“This is not his first input. Remember he’s been there since the start. He hugely contributed during the turning of the sod for the project, and purred cash and construction materials worth over 150 million old Leones, hadn’t been for his intervention, we wouldn’t have stuck by the initial building plans but when God fetched us our MOSES, we are still going”, she explained.

The NPPA Boss is highly rated amongst citizens for his selflessness right-through Sierra Leone.
