Veterans Tighten APC Grip in Koinadugu

Veterans from many Constituencies within the Koinadugu District met in Kabala on Monday, 14th February 2022 to deliberate on issues affecting their welfare and to develop strategies aimed at consolidating the All Peoples Congress (APC) party amongst them and within the ranks and file in the district.

The meeting also discussed plans to work with like-minded organisations to achieve their goal. The APC Veterans appear to have made good on their promise made on 5th February instant, that they will take credit from the Koinadugu APC Women’s Solidarity Conference to mend fences and build bridges amongst APC members to make it easier for the party’s comeback to power in the next general and presidential elections. This move taken by the APC veterans in Koinadugu District is considered by many political pundits as a move in the right direction.

Determined as they have manifested, Senior Barrie, a member of the Koinadugu District APC Veterans affirmed that they will move to every nook and cranny to settle misunderstandings, educate and sensitize communities on the APC’s social, economic and infrastructural developments in Sierra Leone and how it is the only political party that has men and women who understand how to redeem Sierra Leone from the current state of bad governance, violations of human rights, economic malaise and the neglect of socioeconomic infrastructural developments.

Madam Haja Marah, Chairlady of the Veterans Corp, pledged the unfettered determination of her colleagues to continue to support every APC support base within the district. She also assured that they will use their individual and collective connections with their communities to ensure an APC grip on the district. A political analyst observed that this declaration by the Veterans is a well calculated move that if replicated by APC Veterans across the country, it will go a long way in consolidating the party’s grassroots support and ensuring a comfortable victory for the party in the coming general and presidential elections in 2023.

With these showings, according to one political commentator, it is getting clearer than ever before that Koinadugu District is no longer the swing district it has been known for, but that its peoples are prepared, ready and determined to turn it over to the APC once for all. “Once again, Koinadugu District has manifested leadership in terms of showcasing its commitment to the APC and for providing an environment for winning,” he noted.
