The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that the 2026 National Men’s Division One Playoffs will be staged in July, with Port Loko set to host the decisive competition.
According to an official press release dated Thursday, July 2, 2026, the playoffs will run from Wednesday, July 8 to Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Port Loko Mini Stadium in Port Loko City.
The SLFA noted that the competition will play a key role in determining promotion and relegation ahead of the 2026/27 football season, as clubs battle for places in the country’s top-tier league.
To ensure smooth organisation of the tournament, the Association has invited all participating clubs to a mandatory pre-playoff meeting scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom, Freetown.
The meeting will focus on the verification of players’ licence cards, review of the rules and regulations governing the playoffs, and the official briefing ahead of the commencement of the competition.
The SLFA further directed all clubs to complete the submission of players’ licence cards and final player registration by the same deadline, warning that no late submissions will be accepted under any circumstances.
At the end of the playoffs, two clubs will earn promotion to the 2026/27 Premier League, while four clubs will be relegated, maintaining the league’s 16-team structure for the upcoming season.
The Association urged all participating teams to comply fully with the regulations in order to ensure a transparent, credible, and successfully executed playoff tournament.
