SLCB Opens Another New Branch in Western Area

The nation’s biggest and one hundred percent Sierra Leonean owned bank, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) today Wednesday 4th November, 2020 opened a new outlet at 34 Military Hospital, Wilberforce in Freetown.

As the leader of the financial institutions in Sierra Leone, SLCB is the bank with the highest number of branches and outlets taking banking services to the doorsteps of customers in communities countrywide.

Speaking at the launch of the outlet, SLCB Managing Director, Abdul Fidelis Turay reiterated that an outlet in that location is a significant undertaking and is of tremendous benefit not only to the Military Hospital but also to out patients and military personnel.

“Do not be surprised because of proximity to see customers from Wilberforce and its environs paying the branch a visit to access banking services.This is because in this outlet customers would be able to perform most banking transactions that you can do at our Head Office” he averred.

He said that the bank has risen up to challenge of supporting the Government of Sierra Leone’s financial inclusion drive by providing easy access to quality and affordable banking products and services at the doorsteps and fingertips of customers.

SLCB Boss furthered that the outlet will provide easy access to their accounts to make deposits and withdrawals, provide access to money transfer services such as Moneygram, Western Union and Small world, and MiYone Tellers will be on hand to open accounts for new customers in less than five minutes.

He said that the 3 banks can also link customers’ bank accounts to Orange Money or Afrimoney to enable them access cash wherever they are.

As the number one bank in the country he said that SLCB’s success is built around putting its customers first.

He concluded by thanking the RSLAF and in particular Lieutenant Colonel Sevalie and team for their tireless efforts in making this a reality.

Chairman of Parliamentary Oversight Committe on Defence, Hon. Hafiju Maada Kanja (Capt. Rtd) said that the outlet is a big achievement for the RSLAF and people accessing the 34 hospital there.

He said that the bank is not only beneficial to staff at 34 Hospital but customers in the immediate environs of Wilberforce. He said that SLCB is the best friend of Members of Parliament as they often utilized the services of the bank.

RSLAF Joint Force Commander, Major General Peter K. Lavehun noted that the collection of revenue has not been centralized before but with the establishment of the outlet by SLCB it has created the platform for transparency and efficient management of public funds. He further said  the SLCB outlet is a laudable venture and will take hospital to another level from strength to strength.

While urging personnel to own the bank he reiterated that this new outlet is geared towards improving processes, systems and service delivery to the 34 Military Hospital.
