Lawyers representing the Chairman of the 21-man Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) of the All People’s Congress (APC), Alfred Peter Conteh have written a letter of apology to the High Court presided over by Justice Adrian Fischer and other members of the Committee after he was found guilty of Contempt.

The letter of apology was in response to the alternative suspension penalty issued by Justice Adrian Fischer after Conteh was fined fifty million Leones or 30 days imprisonment.

However, in his suspension order, Justice Fischer noted that the ITGC Chairman, Alfred Peter Conteh, must pay the fifty million Leones fine or go to jail, if he fails to write an official apology letter to the court and the ITGC membership within seven (7) days after the said judgment was delivered.

The court also noted that the main objective of giving Alfred Peter Conteh the opportunity to respond with an apology letter is for him to legally purge the Contempt charges that were brought against him and also for the promotion of unity in the ITGC.

In a recent interview with this press, the ITGC Chairman, Alfred Peter Conteh, said he had instructed his legal representatives to write an apology letter in response to the latest court ruling. He added that he decided to follow the dictates of the court because of the love he has for the APC and to also push forward the party’s ongoing internal activities, ahead of the June 24, 2023 general elections.

Alfred Peter Conteh confirmed that he is now ready to follow all the court orders, promising that he would successfully take APC to its democratic national delegates’ convention under the new 2022 APC Constitution.

He advised colleagues from in other factions in the ITGC to comply with the latest court orders in the interest of peace and unity and for them to prepare to move the party’s ongoing activities forward.

It could be recalled that in recent months, there were lots of controversies, criticisms and accusations levelled against Alfred Peter Conteh about his heavy-handedness and inappropriate manner he was singe-handedly taking decisions within the ITGC without consulting the other members which was clearly in contravention of the High Court judgment.

He is known to have been in total defiance and opposition with various groups within the APC such as the Young People, National Union of APC Students which took a robust stance against the illegal nuances of Alfred Peter Conteh which led to the overall decision of the other ITGC members to take the matter to the PPRC.
