The Orange Sierra Leone Foundation, through its Orange Digital Center (ODC) NextGen Summer Camp, has certified a new group of young innovators following weeks of intensive learning, creativity and hands-on digital skills training.
The certification ceremony, held on Friday, August 28, 2026, marked the successful completion of the 2026 NextGen Summer Camp, an initiative designed to expose young people to emerging technologies while nurturing creativity, confidence and problem-solving abilities.
The programme brought together young learners who were introduced to practical areas of digital technology, including Scratch coding, web design and 3D printing. Throughout the camp, participants were given opportunities to learn, experiment and transform their ideas into practical projects.
The certification day provided the young innovators with an opportunity to demonstrate what they had learned, as participants proudly presented their projects to an audience of stakeholders, trainers, parents and other guests.
Their presentations highlighted not only the technical skills acquired during the programme but also the confidence and creativity developed throughout the training.
The Orange Sierra Leone Foundation has continued to position digital education and technology as important tools for empowering young people and expanding opportunities in Sierra Leone. The Foundation describes its work as using digital technology to promote equal opportunities and support communities across the country.
The NextGen Summer Camp is part of that broader effort to introduce young people to technology at an early stage and prepare them for an increasingly digital future.
During the camp, participants progressed from learning basic concepts to developing their own creative projects, giving them practical exposure to technologies that are increasingly relevant in education, entrepreneurship and the future workplace.
The successful completion of the programme therefore represents more than the awarding of certificates. It marks a step towards building a generation of young Sierra Leoneans who are confident in using technology to create, innovate and solve problems.
The Orange Sierra Leone Foundation has also been implementing other digital-skills initiatives through the Orange Digital Center, including digital literacy programmes aimed at strengthening young people’s ability to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
As the young graduates received their certificates, the message from the programme was clear: investing in digital skills and empowering young minds today can help shape Sierra Leone’s innovators, entrepreneurs and technology leaders of tomorrow.
The 2026 NextGen Summer Camp has therefore closed one chapter, but for its young participants, it may represent the beginning of a much bigger journey in technology and innovation.
