NRA Chief Engages European Union

The Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) Dr. Samuel S. Jibao and his Deputy Mrs. Jeneba Kpaka Bangura and other members of NRA’s Senior Management has updated the delegation of the European Union in Sierra Leone on the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), the Electronic Cash Register and other digital reforms within the National Revenue Authority.

Speaking at the meeting, the Ambassador of the EU delegation in Sierra Leone Manuel Alexander Muller underscored the need to understand the operation of the newly employed NRA systems as they interact with the NRA on almost a daily basis. Estelle Van EEckhout- General Manager for Brussels Airlines in Sierra Leone in her contribution called for a sustained interaction and Communication to service the over forty registered businesses operated by EU member Countries in Sierra Leone.

Dr. Samuel Jibao in his response informed the European Union delegation about the robust changes taking place within the tax administration in Sierra Leone. He said these reforms are to aid the promotion of trade facilitation, ensuring fairer tax administration, reducing cost of tax compliance and improving revenue generation in Sierra Leone. Dr. Jibao said if his work has to be successful, then there should be a predictable tax system which obviously functions on digitalization. He promised the EU team to improve on the Communication gap but most importantly encouraged them to use the systems already deployed by the NRA.
