The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has reminded mobile network and mobile money subscribers in Sierra Leone to link their SIM cards to their National Identification Numbers (NINs) before November 1, 2026, warning that unlinked SIM cards will be deactivated.

In a public notice dated October 20, 2026, NatCA said it had directed mobile network operators and mobile money operators to disconnect subscribers who fail to complete the integration by the deadline.

According to the Authority, the measure is intended to strengthen identity management, enhance national security and combat fraud.

NatCA has advised subscribers to dial *999# on all networks to check their registration status and update their SIM registration details with their NINs where necessary. Subscribers who fail to comply risk losing access to their numbers from November 1.

The Authority has urged subscribers to verify their registration status and complete any outstanding requirements before the deadline to avoid disruption to their mobile services.
