The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Chernor Mamoud Jalloh, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Komba Kamanda, at the Law Court in Freetown on October 20, 2026.

Welcoming the Director General, the Chief Justice congratulated him on his appointment to head NASSIT, an institution responsible for administering social security and pension benefits. He acknowledged the progress made by the Trust over the years and expressed confidence that, under Jalloh’s leadership, it would continue to build on these achievements and advance its mandate.

In his response, Jalloh commended the judiciary for its role in adjudicating NASSIT-related cases through the Social Security Court. He highlighted the importance of the court in promoting compliance with social security legislation and ensuring that employers meet their statutory obligations to remit contributions on behalf of their employees.

He emphasised the need for sustained cooperation between NASSIT and the judiciary to strengthen compliance, uphold the rule of law and safeguard workers’ social security rights. He also reaffirmed the Trust’s commitment to working with the judiciary to ensure that institutions are held accountable for failing to meet their statutory obligations.

“We rely on the judiciary for the enforcement of the law, particularly in cases involving institutions that fail to fulfil their statutory obligations to pay social security contributions on behalf of their employees. Continued collaboration is essential to ensuring compliance and protecting the rights of workers,” the Director General stated.

Jalloh further expressed his commitment to maintaining regular engagement with the Chief Justice to seek legal guidance where necessary and strengthen institutional cooperation in enforcing social security laws.

The courtesy call highlights the importance of collaboration between NASSIT and the judiciary in promoting compliance, accountability and the effective administration of social security in Sierra Leone.
