The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting breast cancer awareness and early detection after participating in the Well Woman Cancer Awareness Walk in Freetown on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The walk formed part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October to raise public awareness about the disease, encourage early detection, celebrate survivors and honour the memories of those who have lost their lives to breast cancer.

NatCA, which has been one of the major sponsors of the Well Woman Cancer Awareness Project over the years, participated in the event to demonstrate its continued support for initiatives aimed at improving women’s health and well-being.

The Authority’s delegation was led by its Director General, DG Brewah, alongside the Deputy Director General and other directors, who joined members of the NatCA team and other participants in a show of solidarity with breast cancer fighters and survivors.

Delivering his goodwill message, DG Brewah underscored the importance of public awareness and early detection in addressing life-threatening illnesses, particularly breast cancer, which continues to affect families and communities across Sierra Leone.

He noted that initiatives such as the Well Woman Cancer Awareness Walk provide an important platform for educating women and girls about regular screening, early diagnosis and the importance of knowing their health status.

The Director General further emphasised the need for collective action and sustained public awareness in the fight against breast cancer, noting that early detection can improve treatment outcomes and save lives. He reaffirmed NatCA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote health education and encourage women to prioritise their well-being.

Madam Jennifer Renner-Thomas expressed appreciation to NatCA for its continued support of the Well Woman Cancer Awareness Project. She also commended the Authority for its impressive turnout and active participation in the awareness walk.

The event brought together stakeholders, advocates and supporters united by a common goal of promoting breast cancer awareness, encouraging early screening and supporting those affected by the disease.

As the Well Woman initiative marks 20 years of promoting early detection and saving lives, NatCA extended appreciation to Madam Jennifer Renner-Thomas, Tina Ngebeh Davies and the entire Well Woman team for their sustained efforts in advancing cancer awareness and education.

The Authority also paid tribute to women currently battling breast cancer, celebrated survivors whose courage continues to inspire others, acknowledged families supporting loved ones through their treatment journeys and honoured the memories of those who have died from the disease.

Through its participation, NatCA reiterated the importance of continued public education, regular screening and collective efforts to strengthen the fight against breast cancer in Sierra Leone.

The Authority encouraged the public to support breast cancer awareness initiatives and help spread the message that early detection can save lives.
