Landmark Victory! HON. MUSA TARAWALLY WINS COI IN APPEAL CASE

Erstwhile Lands and Country Planning Minister, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally in the former APC administration of former President Ernest Bai Koroma, has won his appeal with regards the Commission of Inquiry (COI).

The court also ordered the State that all fees incurred by Alhaji Musa Tarawally during the course of the appeal must be paid back to him.

It could be recalled that when President Bio came to power he instituted a Commission of Inquiry (COI) headed by a Nigerian legal luminary Biobele Georgewill.

The COI invited several Persons of Interest (POIs) including former President Ernest Bai Koroma who was represented by his lawyers throughout the duration of the enquiry; Dr. Sylvia O. Blyden and a host of others including the former Lands Minister, Alhaji Musa Tarawally who before appointed to this position was Resident Minister South and later appointed Internal Affairs Minister before he became Minister of Lands.

His victory is being celebrated far and wide. Political pundits and social commentators describe his appeal victory over the COI as a landmark which goes a long way to show that our Judiciary is truly independent. Otherwise, political considerations could have been used to manipulate his appeal trial for obvious reasons.

Following the announcement of his victory, dozens of Lands Ministry officials including senior and junior workers jubilated by sending messages via whatsapp and in other ways, congratulating Alhaji Musa Tarawally for his victory. Most of them described him as a very prudent, thoughtful, wise and considerate man who left no stone unturned to ensure that he did the right thing all the time. They maintained that they are not surprised that Alhaji Musa Tarawally won his appeal because according to them, he was only doing his job to the best of his ability and that the COI charges that were leveled against him were purely malicious and politically motivated. 

It could further could be recalled that following the conclusion of the COI a White Paper on the report of the COI by Hon. Sir Justice Biobele Georgewill to examine the assets and other related matters in respect of persons who were president, vice presidents, ministers of state and deputy ministers and heads and chairmen of boards of parastatals, ministries, departments and agencies within the period from November 2007 to April 2018.

All the allegations leveled against Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally were found to be false by the appeals Court.
