Lawyers representing Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally have written to lawyer Hindolo M. Gevao, rejecting his response to their earlier complaint over what they describe as the “purported unilateral removal” of their client from the membership of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

In a letter dated September 28, 2026, signed by Jessie M. Jengo Esq. of Jengo, Sam & Partners, the lawyers said they were surprised by Gevao’s response dated September 23, arguing that it addressed an issue their client had not raised.

According to the lawyers, their original letter was not about Tarawally’s eligibility to present himself as a flagbearer aspirant of the SLPP, but specifically concerned his membership of the party.

The lawyers said Gevao, through a letter circulated on social media, had declared that Tarawally held dual membership of the SLPP and the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP) and was therefore not a member of the SLPP.

They further alleged that the declaration was made without any complaint, hearing, disciplinary procedure or decision by the SLPP National Executive Council.

The legal team also challenged the basis of the alleged dual-membership claim, stating that it relied on a letter from an official of the Citizens Democratic Party which, according to them, had subsequently been publicly repudiated by the party’s leadership.

The lawyers said their earlier correspondence had specifically sought answers to those issues, but claimed that Gevao’s response neither denied that he had acted alone nor identified any provision of the SLPP Constitution that empowered him to remove Tarawally’s membership.

They also said the response did not retract the allegation that Tarawally held dual party membership.

“We therefore take it that your client has no answer to the question actually raised,” the lawyers stated.

The legal team maintained that the demands contained in its September 20, 2026 letter remain in force, including the deadline given for compliance.

They warned that upon expiry of the deadline, they would proceed with the actions outlined in their earlier letter without further notice, while reserving all of Tarawally’s legal rights.
