Hon. Alpha Ben Mansaray has called on mining companies operating in Moyamba District to take a more proactive role in improving the condition of major trunk roads across the district.

He expressed concern over the persistent deterioration of these roads, particularly during the rainy season, noting that the situation continues to hinder transportation, disrupt economic activities, and limit access to essential services for local communities.

Hon. Mansaray emphasized that mining companies, which frequently use these roads for operational activities including the transportation of heavy machinery and minerals, have a shared responsibility to contribute to their maintenance and rehabilitation.

While acknowledging ongoing discussions that the government may undertake the construction of key road networks, including the Mabang to Gbangbatoke Junction road and the Moyamba to Shenge road, he stressed that timely intervention by mining companies would provide immediate relief and significantly improve road conditions.

He further noted that such support would not only enhance accessibility within the district but also demonstrate corporate social responsibility and strengthen relations between mining companies and host communities.

Hon. Mansaray concluded by urging all relevant stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring sustainable infrastructure development that benefits residents of Moyamba District.
