Former President Ernest Bai Koroma has arrived in Sierra Leone to participate in the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, where he is attending as one of the invited guests of President Julius Maada Bio.

Koroma’s arrival comes ahead of the high-level regional summit, which has brought together West African leaders, diplomats, and other distinguished guests to discuss key issues affecting the ECOWAS sub-region, including regional security, economic integration, governance, and democratic stability.

His attendance marks a notable moment, following the recent decision by the Government of Sierra Leone to discontinue the treason-related charges previously brought against him, a move that was subsequently endorsed by Parliament.

The former president is expected to join other invited dignitaries at the summit’s official proceedings alongside regional leaders and international partners.

The 69th ECOWAS Summit is being hosted by Sierra Leone at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi, with President Julius Maada Bio presiding over the meeting in his capacity as Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
