The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and the Office of the Administrator and Registrar General (OARG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration on intellectual property (IP), innovation, research, technology transfer, and digital systems development in Sierra Leone.

The agreement, signed by the Administrator and Registrar General, Martina Baindu Egbenda, marks a significant step toward enhancing the country’s intellectual property ecosystem and fostering innovation-driven economic growth.

Under the partnership, the two institutions will work together to improve the protection and management of intellectual property rights, promote the commercialization of research and innovation, and expand access to intellectual property services across Sierra Leone.

The collaboration is also expected to strengthen digital systems that support intellectual property administration, facilitate technology transfer, and create an enabling environment for innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and businesses to transform ideas into valuable assets.

By combining their expertise, DSTI and OARG aim to ensure that innovations developed in Sierra Leone are better protected and positioned for commercial success, while encouraging greater investment in research, technology, and innovation.

The partnership reflects the Government of Sierra Leone’s continued commitment to building a knowledge-based economy through improved intellectual property governance, digital transformation, and innovation-led development.
