The Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has called for unity, discipline, and effective governance within the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) as the ruling party marked its 75th anniversary celebration.

Delivering an address during the anniversary dinner, the Deputy Minister paid tribute to the party’s long history, describing the milestone as a reflection of decades of sacrifice, resilience, and commitment by members who believed in national progress and service to the people.

Addressing President Julius Maada Bio, SLPP Chairman Batilo Songa, government officials, party supporters, and invited guests, the Deputy Minister said the anniversary should not only be celebrated as a historic achievement but also embraced as a responsibility to strengthen the party for the future.

She urged party members to maintain internal unity and maturity, noting that the SLPP’s legacy was built by generations of leaders and supporters who worked through challenging periods to preserve the institution.

The Deputy Minister also praised President Bio’s leadership, encouraging him to remain focused on governance and national development. She said the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, and public service delivery would remain central to the public’s judgment of the government.

Turning to party leadership, she called on Chairman Batilo Songa to continue promoting cohesion within the party by bringing together veteran members, younger supporters, and officials at all levels.

According to the Deputy Minister, unity within the party would be essential as preparations gradually begin toward the 2028 general elections.

She further urged government officials serving under the SLPP administration to govern responsibly and honestly, stressing that every positive impact on citizens’ lives would strengthen public confidence in the party.

The Deputy Minister also encouraged supporters across the country to remain active and committed, saying political success depends not only on election-day campaigns but also on daily engagement with communities and consistent support for the party’s vision.

Reflecting on the party’s 75-year journey, she said the SLPP remains rooted in service, national development, and the aspirations of the people of Sierra Leone.

She concluded by calling for renewed determination among party members, expressing confidence that a united and disciplined SLPP would remain a strong political force in the years ahead.

The Sierra Leone People’s Party, one of the country’s oldest political organisations, celebrated its 75th anniversary with events attended by party leaders, government representatives, supporters, and invited guests.
