The Citizens Awareness Forum (CAF) has publicly refuted claims linking it to a request for a parliamentary investigation into the National Election Watch (NEW).

In a statement issued by its Communications Officer, Abdul Kamara, CAF distanced itself from a recent letter reportedly addressed to the Speaker of Parliament by Mohamed M. Yillah, Executive Secretary of the National Consortium of Public Accountability (NCPA). The letter, which copied CAF among a group of over fifty civil society organizations, suggested a collective request for Parliament to investigate the activities of NEW, including the utilization of donor funds.

CAF, however, described its inclusion in the correspondence as “false and misleading,” stressing that it neither participated in nor endorsed any such initiative. The organization maintained that it was never consulted, involved, or represented in the matter.

“We firmly disclaim any association with the said request. Any assertion suggesting our involvement should not be attributed to the Citizens Awareness Forum under any circumstance,” the statement emphasized.

The organization reiterated its commitment to the principles of neutrality, fairness, and mutual respect in all its engagements, noting that its work remains focused on public awareness and advocacy for citizens’ rights.

CAF further underscored that it will continue to uphold its reputation as an independent civil society organization dedicated to serving the public interest.
