Lawyer Ady Macauley, an aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC) 2026 presidential flagbearer position, has raised concerns over the party’s procedures for its upcoming Constituency Elections, calling for urgent clarification and corrective measures to ensure transparency and credibility.

In a letter dated July 7, 2026, addressed to APC National Secretary-General Lansana Dumbuya Esq., Macauley acknowledged the party’s efforts to modernise its processes through digital platforms and its commitment to transparency, due process and constitutional compliance.

However, he expressed concerns over aspects of the National Secretariat’s public notice issued on July 6, 2026, regarding the publication of the candidate list and register of eligible voters for the Constituency Elections scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Macauley argued that relying solely on digital publication of electoral information could exclude some party members, particularly those in rural and hard-to-reach areas who may lack internet access, smartphones, data or reliable network coverage.

He also questioned the 48-hour deadline provided for members to identify and correct possible anomalies in the voter register, describing it as insufficient and inconsistent with Article 54 of the 2022 APC Constitution, especially for members who may need to travel long distances to access relevant offices.

The APC flagbearer aspirant further raised concerns over the handling of manual candidate applications. He questioned why manually submitted applications that had reportedly been accepted and processed by the Secretariat were not fully incorporated into the party’s electronic database and published candidate list.

According to Macauley, candidate verification and validation should remain the responsibility of the APC Secretariat rather than being transferred to Presiding Officers at polling centres, warning that such a process could create confusion, inconsistencies and potential disputes.

To address these concerns, Macauley recommended that the party publish printed copies of voter registers and candidate lists at regional, district and constituency offices, as well as recognised party centres, to ensure wider access for members.

He also called for an extension of the deadline for correcting voter register anomalies, the consolidation and publication of a complete final candidate list, and the inclusion of all approved manual applications into the party’s official database.

Macauley said the recommendations were made in the interest of strengthening the party’s democratic processes, protecting members’ rights and ensuring that the Constituency Elections are inclusive, orderly and credible ahead of the party’s preparations for the 2026 National Delegates Convention (NDC).
