Jagaban Intensifies Campaign Against Kush

By El-Hajj KB Bangura

Western Rural District, Waterloo, 4 November, 2023 – In a bid to tackle the rising issue of drug abuse, Western Rural District has initiated a campaign to halt the use of the harmful drug known as Kush. Spearheading this movement is Sheik Alhaji Mohamed “Omodu” Kamara, a respected figure in the Country, who delivered a powerful speech urging young people to refrain from using Kush.

During his address, Sheik Kamara emphasized the destructive consequences of Kush, citing personal experiences of individuals close to him whose lives have been ruined by the drug. Recognizing the importance of the younger generation as the future of tomorrow, he implored them to take care of themselves and steer clear of harmful substances.

The impact of Sheik Kamara’s words was immediately evident, as several young individuals who had previously been identified as Kush users came forward, vowing to abandon the drug. In a heartwarming gesture, Jagaban, the APC Strongman, promised to support and better the lives of these individuals. One drug user, who had successfully passed the West African Senior Secondary School Examination (WASSCE), was appointed as a drug ambassador. Jagaban pledged to cover his tuition fees and provide support until he becomes independent.

Recognizing the significance of community involvement in combating drug abuse, Jagaban called upon local leaders to actively discourage the use of Kush within their respective areas. By spreading awareness and educating the public about the dangers associated with drug abuse, it is hoped that the campaign will gain momentum and lead to a significant reduction in drug-related incidents.

The launch of this campaign marks a crucial step in addressing the drug epidemic that has plagued Western Rural District. With the combined efforts of community leaders, influential figures like Sheik Kamara, and the determination of young individuals to break free from the clutches of Kush, there is renewed hope for a brighter and drug-free future.

In the face of adversity, the Western Rural District is taking a stand against Kush, paving the way for a healthier and more prosperous community.
