University of Sierra Leone Institute of Extramural Studies Commences Operations in Kailahun

The University of Sierra Leone (USL) Institute of Extramural Studies through the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) has commenced operations in Kailahun, following the launch of the centre on 23rd July 2021.

IPAM, as was promised to the people of Kailahun, ran a two-day basic ICT Training Programme for school teachers in the district from Friday 24th to Saturday 25th September 2021 for free.

With the fast-growing digitization of educational administration in the country, including operations of Basic and Secondary Schools – such as the requirements to respond to online surveys, accessing and completion of relevant information via established portals, pupils registration for public examinations, submission of reports electronically – IPAM felt the need to provide the training as one of its contributions in promoting the Government’s Free Quality Education Programme.

Moreover, developing or enhancing the basic ICT skills of teachers would impact on their teaching methodology as well as expose pupils to digital and online tools and resources.

Higher levels of the training will be run at a highly subsidized rate for both teachers and other members of the community, according to Brima Bah, Ag. Deputy Registrar.
