Justice Adrian Fischer has warned members and supporters of the All Peoples Congress (APC) against disrupting the party’s internal electoral processes, urging party leaders, including Osman Foday Yansanneh and Sidi Yaya Tunis, to caution their supporters against actions that could undermine the credibility and peaceful conduct of the elections.
Justice Fischer warned that individuals brought before the court over alleged disruptions of APC electoral activities could remain in custody until after the party’s National Delegates Conference if found culpable, subject to the applicable law and the court’s decision.
To emphasise the seriousness of his warning, Justice Fischer reportedly delivered part of his message in Krio, stressing the need to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.
He condemned alleged acts of intimidation, threats against political opponents, the destruction of ballot boxes and disruptions at polling centres, insisting that such conduct must stop.
According to the report, Justice Fischer said democratic elections require all participants to accept both victory and defeat. He urged aspirants and their supporters to respect the electoral rules and allow the process to proceed without intimidation, violence or deliberate interference.
He further warned that he would take appropriate legal action against anyone found responsible for disrupting electoral activities under his jurisdiction.
Justice Fischer also made it clear that he would not be intimidated by individuals seeking to create disorder during the process.
He stressed that APC internal elections must be conducted peacefully, fairly and in accordance with the law.
