The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has held a formal engagement with the Association’s Finance Committee, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening financial governance, transparency and accountability within the country’s football governing body.
The meeting was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, and marked the first formal meeting of the SLFA Finance Committee in many years.
The Finance Committee is one of the Standing Committees established under Article 41 of the SLFA Statutes and is responsible for monitoring the Association’s financial management while advising the Executive Committee on financial and asset management matters.

Speaking during the engagement, Kamara, who also serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee, outlined the committee’s responsibilities, including reviewing the SLFA budget and financial statements prepared by the Finance Department before submitting recommendations to the Executive Committee for approval.
He also emphasised the need for a transparent and properly maintained financial management system, particularly to safeguard the Association’s compliance with international football governing bodies and development partners.
“I want us to maintain a clean audit system. This will help preserve our strong compliance record with FIFA, CAF and other partner institutions,” Kamara said.
The President’s emphasis on financial oversight forms part of efforts to strengthen the Association’s governance structures and ensure that its financial operations remain consistent with established football administration standards.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Vice Chairman Abdulai Sesay expressed appreciation to the President and Executive Committee for the confidence placed in the members through their appointments.
Sesay described the responsibility as both an honour and a duty, pledging that the committee would diligently execute its mandate and contribute to the continued development and success of the Association.
The Finance Committee comprises Babadi Kamara as Chairman, Abdulai Sesay as Vice Chairman, and George Moore, Matty A. Kamara and Bryan Shyllon as members.
The formal engagement is being viewed as a significant step in strengthening financial oversight within the SLFA, with the committee expected to play a central role in reviewing budgets, financial statements and other financial and asset management matters of the Association.
