The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has disbursed the second tranche of its annual financial support to the country’s five Regional Football Associations (RFAs), bringing the total annual funding to US$50,000 for each region.

The latest payment follows the disbursement of the first tranche earlier this year, with each of the five Regional Football Associations receiving US$25,000 in the second tranche.

The SLFA said the increased funding forms part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of regional football structures and promote the development of the sport at the grassroots level.

The annual financial support to the Regional Football Associations was increased from US$15,000 to US$50,000 per region following approval by the Babadi Kamara-led SLFA Executive Committee.

According to the Association, the increased support is intended to enable the regional bodies to effectively carry out their responsibilities and contribute to the sustainable development of football across Sierra Leone.

The SLFA reaffirmed its commitment to providing regional football structures with the necessary financial and institutional support to enhance grassroots football development nationwide.
