The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) is advancing discussions with the Sierra Leone Fire Force on digital solutions aimed at improving institutional visibility, data management, coordination and disaster response.

The engagement is exploring the development of an institutional website and dashboard, as well as data visualisation tools to support planning, monitoring and informed decision-making within the Fire Force.

Discussions are also considering a more integrated digital system that could connect key institutional functions, including human resources, payroll, inventory management and operational activities.

A key area of focus is the Key Asset Visualization component under the Integrated Geospatial Information System (IGIS) project. As part of the process, DSTI and its partners are engaging relevant institutions to identify and access updated datasets, including Fire Force operational information, rainfall data and relevant health data.

The next phase will focus on clarifying the Fire Force’s business processes, information requirements, intended users and long-term objectives. This will be supported by the development of a Business Process Map and Product Requirements Document to guide the design and implementation of the proposed digital solutions.

DSTI will continue working with the Sierra Leone Fire Force, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Information and relevant data-holding institutions to identify practical and sustainable digital solutions tailored to the needs of the Fire Force.

The initiative is expected to improve access to reliable information, strengthen institutional coordination and support more effective disaster preparedness and response through the use of technology and data.
