The outgoing President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara, has been left off the provisional list of eligible voters for the Association’s elections scheduled for Monday, raising questions about her membership status ahead of the polls.
Gento-Kamara’s name is absent from the 429-member provisional voters’ list published in a public notice dated 22 October 2026. The list also excludes Alfred Kamanda, the Association’s former Public Relations Officer, and other members of the previous executive.
The omission means Gento-Kamara is not currently listed among those eligible to vote in the upcoming election, although the provisional register remains subject to review and correction.
The list was signed by Caretaker Body Chairman Osman I. Kanu Esq., who stated that it was prepared in accordance with the SLBA’s Memorandum and Articles of Association and a High Court order dated 23 July 2026.
Under the notice, members have until 5:00 pm on Saturday, 24 October, to verify their details at the Bar Secretariat and report any omissions, duplications or errors before the final register is issued.
While the provisional list does not establish the reason for Gento-Kamara’s exclusion, her absence has placed attention on the membership and voting eligibility requirements ahead of the leadership transition.
The final voters’ register is expected to determine which members can participate in Monday’s election.
