The late former National Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, has been laid to rest following a solemn series of farewell ceremonies that drew political leaders, lawmakers, family members, and supporters from across Sierra Leone.

Before his final burial, the remains of the veteran politician were brought to Sierra Leone’s Parliament on Monday, where Members of Parliament and key political stakeholders gathered to pay their last respects to a man widely regarded as one of the APC’s longstanding pillars.

The ceremony at Parliament symbolized national recognition of Mansaray’s contribution to Sierra Leone’s political development, with tributes flowing from both the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the opposition All Peoples Congress, highlighting the respect he commanded across political lines.

Mansaray’s political career spanned decades of active service to both party and country. He served as a Member of Parliament between 2002 and 2007, representing the APC during a challenging period when the party was in opposition. His leadership and loyalty during those years earned him admiration within the party’s ranks.

Following the APC’s return to power in 2007 under former President Ernest Bai Koroma, Mansaray was appointed Minister of Labour and Industrial Relations, where he served until 2010. He later took on another key national assignment as Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, further cementing his role in governance.

The late politician’s final journey was marked by an outpouring of grief and appreciation, as mourners reflected on his dedication to public service, party politics, and national unity.

Many who attended described him as a seasoned statesman whose influence stretched beyond partisan boundaries, noting that his contributions to Sierra Leone’s democracy and governance would remain part of the country’s political history.

His passing closes a significant chapter in the APC’s leadership history, as party members and supporters continue to mourn the loss of one of their most experienced and committed figures.
