APC strongman and Flagbearer Aspirant Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara (JFK) has strongly condemned alleged remarks by President Julius Maada Bio, which he says threatened members and supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Bonthe District.

The comments were reportedly made during the commissioning of a Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) office in Mattru. According to Kamara, the statement suggested hostility toward citizens based on their political affiliation, a development he described as “profoundly disturbing.”

Kamara emphasized that statements attributed to the Head of State carry significant weight and far-reaching consequences, warning that such remarks could be misinterpreted by supporters and potentially encourage actions outside the bounds of the law.

He noted that rhetoric perceived as threatening risks deepening political divisions, creating fear among citizens, and undermining the democratic principle of freedom of political choice.

“For APC members and supporters in Bonthe, this moment is a stark reminder of the harassment and intimidation you have long endured,” Kamara stated, while urging party supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

He stressed that no citizen should feel unsafe because of their political beliefs, adding that democracy must be anchored on tolerance, mutual respect, and the protection of all voices.

Kamara further called on national leaders to promote unity and inspire confidence rather than fear, especially at a time when citizens look to leadership for reassurance and stability.

Despite the concerns raised, he encouraged APC supporters to remain resilient and united, noting that challenges should not weaken their commitment to democratic values.

The development comes amid ongoing political activities across the country, with stakeholders continuing to call for responsible leadership and peaceful coexistence in Sierra Leone’s democratic space.
