Finance Minister to Receive African Government Minister of the Year Award in Ghana

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, is set to receive the prestigious African Government Minister of the Year 2025 Award at the 15th Edition of the African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year (POTY) Awards in Accra, Ghana.

The continental honour, conferred by African Leadership Magazine, recognises Minister Bangura’s leadership in advancing fiscal reforms, strengthening economic governance, and steering Sierra Leone toward greater financial stability and sustainable growth.

The award will be formally presented today, Saturday, 28th February 2026, by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during a high-profile ceremony bringing together leaders and policymakers from across Africa.

This year’s ceremony is being held under the theme, “Leadership for a New Africa: Forging Our Peace, Owning Our Narrative,” and is expected to celebrate outstanding public servants and visionary leaders whose contributions are shaping the continent’s development trajectory.
