Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya Esq., National Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC), has been granted bail after being detained by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Freetown.

Mr. Dumbuya was invited to the CID on February 5, 2026, in connection with controversial remarks he made during a large APC mammoth meeting. After questioning by investigators, he was released on bail and is expected to continue cooperating with the ongoing inquiry while resuming his duties within the party.

The APC has maintained that Mr. Dumbuya’s comments were part of legitimate political expression, asserting that political discourse should be protected under democratic principles.
