The Legal Access through Women Yearning for Equal Rights and Safety (L.A.W.Y.E.R.S.) organization has announced plans for a major solidarity walk scheduled for Saturday, 20th December 2025, aimed at raising awareness and advocating for the rights and protection of women and girls across Sierra Leone.

According to the organizers, the upcoming event goes beyond a symbolic march. It is positioned as a powerful statement against all forms of violence—physical, emotional, digital, and societal—faced by women and girls. The walk, they stated, represents a united call for safety, dignity, equality, and justice.

In the lead-up to the event, L.A.W.Y.E.R.S. is encouraging members of the public to purchase branded T-shirts in support of the cause. The proceeds will directly contribute to providing free legal aid, protection, and justice for vulnerable women and girls who rely on the organisation’s services.

“Every T-shirt is more than just fabric; it is hope worn on your chest,” the organisation said in a statement. “It is a lifeline that helps a vulnerable woman or girl access free legal support and protection through L.A.W.Y.E.R.S.”

Organisers emphasized that participation in the walk holds significant meaning, noting that each step taken symbolizes solidarity with survivors and commitment to ending all forms of gender-based and digital violence.

They underscored that the initiative seeks to amplify the voices of those who have been silenced by fear, stigma, or lack of support systems, stressing the importance of collective action in creating safer communities.

“This is more than a walk. It is a promise and a collective heartbeat calling for justice,” they added.

Members of the public, advocacy groups, and partners are encouraged to join the movement by purchasing a T-shirt, showing up on the day of the walk, and standing firmly for the rights and freedom of every woman and girl.

The walk also aims to spotlight the growing threat of digital violence, urging society to confront emerging online harms and ensure women and girls can participate safely in digital spaces.

L.A.W.Y.E.R.S. believes that through unity, visibility, and persistent advocacy, meaningful change is possible.

“Your step matters. Your voice matters. Your shirt matters. Together, they change lives,” the organisation reiterated.
