Nectar Sierra Leone Bulk Terminal (NSBT), a key operator at Freetown Port under the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), has been honoured with a Special Achievement Award at the 2025 International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards.

The award recognises Freetown Port’s outstanding contributions to the global maritime bulk industry. The ceremony took place on 17th November at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool. The accolade, in the Cargo Handling category, is reserved for organisations demonstrating exceptional accomplishments in the global dry bulk sector.

NSBT’s achievement highlights the successful completion of the new third berth at the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal, enhanced cargo-handling efficiencies, and ongoing operational improvements. The port was also shortlisted for the “Best Dry Bulk Port” Award, which it previously won in 2016, reflecting its continued excellence and innovation regionally and internationally.

Accepting the award, NSBT General Manager Siamba Kamara said:
“We are profoundly honoured to receive this distinguished award, which reaffirms our commitment, dedication, and resilience in improving cargo-handling standards. We extend sincere appreciation to the Nectar Group, the NSBT team, SLPHA, partners, and the wider community.”

NSBT Director Guy Wilkes added that the recognition represents a significant achievement not only for NSBT staff and management but also for SLPHA and the nation as a whole.

SLPHA continues to receive international praise for its growing efficiency, productivity, and influence in the maritime and shipping sectors.
