The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has issued a press freedom alert following the invitation of journalist Thomas Dixon, Chairman of the Guild of Editors, by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to SLAJ, the invitation is reportedly linked to publications concerning Leone Rock Metal Group. The association noted that it is already engaging the police to clarify the circumstances surrounding the matter and to ensure that due process is upheld.

In a statement, SLAJ assured its members and the general public that it is closely monitoring the situation. The association pledged to provide timely updates as discussions with the relevant authorities continue.

SLAJ reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding press freedom in Sierra Leone, emphasizing that any action taken against journalists must respect the principles of justice and fairness.
