The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Mr. Babadi Kamara, has embarked on his first international assignment since assuming office, leading Sierra Leone’s delegation to the CAF IMPACT Strategic Roundtable Workshop in Kampala, Uganda.
He is accompanied by the Acting General Secretary, Mr. Mohamed Benson Bawoh, who will return to Freetown immediately after the engagement.
The high-level workshop, which kicked off on Sunday, 24th August 2025, brings together football leaders from across the continent to discuss the implementation of CAF’s new IMPACT Programme a flagship initiative aimed at strengthening governance, accountability, and infrastructure development while ensuring more effective use of development funds.

Speaking ahead of the engagement, the SLFA President emphasized Sierra Leone’s commitment to contributing to Africa-wide football reforms. His participation, officials say, underscores a renewed determination to position Sierra Leone at the center of CAF’s development agenda.
While in Uganda, President Kamara will also witness the Semi-Final and 3rd Place matches of the ongoing TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya.

In Nairobi, he is expected to join CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and fellow FA presidents on Saturday, 30th August 2025, for a strategic meeting coinciding with the CHAN final. The agenda will cover:
- New initiatives to secure financial sustainability for CAF’s 54 Member Associations and six Zonal Unions.
- The construction and upgrading of stadiums and other critical football infrastructure.
- Strategies to make African football more globally competitive.
For Sierra Leone, these engagements represent an opportunity to build stronger international ties, explore infrastructure support, and maximize the benefits of CAF’s new development pathways.

Observers say President Kamara’s active participation on the continental stage signals a major step forward for Sierra Leone’s football leadership, with the potential to unlock long-term growth for the game at home.
