Ministry of Technical and Higher Education Presents Chinese Scholarship Certificates to 121 Awardees

On August 18, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, hosted the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship Certificate Presentation and Farewell Ceremony for awardees.

The ceremony brought together Chinese Ambassador Wang Qing, Minister of Technical and Higher Education Dr. Ramatulai Wurie, and Acting Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Franklyn Brima Fawundu.

Delivering his keynote address, Ambassador Wang Qing reviewed the positive outcomes of China–Sierra Leone educational cooperation and emphasized the numerous advantages of studying in China. He extended warm congratulations to the 121 scholarship recipients, urging them to maximize the opportunity, excel academically, and return as contributors to Sierra Leone’s national development as well as promoters of the China–Sierra Leone friendship.

Minister Wurie and Acting Director General Fawundu both expressed deep gratitude for China’s longstanding and substantial support across multiple fields. They commended the success of the bilateral educational partnership, underscoring its importance in building human capital for Sierra Leone’s growth.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, student representatives shared their excitement to begin their academic journeys in China and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding and strengthening the legacy of friendship between the two nations.

As part of the event, the Embassy also officially presented a plaque to the Sino-Sierra Leone Alumni Association (SISLAA), designating it as the “Home for Participants of Sierra Leone–China Government Human Resources Cooperation Projects.”
