The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq has said the completion of the National Stadium will witness its privatization, bringing to fruition a 43-year-old leadership style.

The aim behind this new strive, the Executive Director said, is to generate income aside from the government that will sustain the existence of the Complex and that will open doors to unfound opportunities.

Regarding its use, Abdulai said the government will give priority to football as it is a political game. “SLFA will pay for the use of the Stadium for Leone Stars’ matches and other international football matches. Other sporting disciplines will also pay for the use of the stadium, and we will deposit monies accrued from the stadium into the account of the Basket Fund,” he explained.

With the need to install plastic seats at the pavilions now forming part of the holistic rehabilitation plan, the stadium is expected to go beyond the initial timeline in the agreement contract.

Of the four renovation exercises the stadium has undergone since it was built in 1979, the current stride is the most comprehensive one, with the Practicing Field being given an entirely new face

Elsewhere, Dr. Abdulai said there will be no wastage of Government’s money under his watch. He has since emphasized his policy of public transparency and financial prudence, underscoring the value for money.
