The Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) has swiftly responded to a recent incident involving the discovery of illicit substances in the possession of several officers within its facilities.

At the Freetown Male Correctional Centre, Officer 2CCO Musa Samura (2855) was apprehended with a package suspected to contain marijuana at the main entrance. This discovery directly contravenes Section 22 (a) of the 2014 SLCS Act, which prohibits the possession or distribution of intoxicating substances within correctional facilities.

In light of this breach of protocol, Officer Samura has been promptly dismissed from the service and handed over to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) for further investigation.

The SLCS’s decisive action underscores its unwavering commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of its correctional centers.

Furthermore, the SLCS has identified and dismissed four additional officers implicated in drug-related offenses. Officers 2CCO Alimamy Bangura (3814), 3CCO Alhassan Bangura (3974), 3CCO Alpha Morray Kargbo (4226), and 3CCO Alimamy Kamara (3751) have been relieved of their duties as part of the Service’s stringent stance against illicit activities.

In a public statement, the SLCS reaffirmed its dedication to fostering a safe and drug-free environment within all correctional facilities.
