SLPP Government Suspends 25 NGO Organizations in Sierra Leone

Under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, the Government of Sierra Leone has announced, through the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the suspension of operations for 25 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) deemed non-compliant with established requirements in Sierra Leone.

In a recent press release, the Ministry highlighted that after a comprehensive review of the operational landscape, certain NGOs were discovered to be operating without meeting the requisite standards outlined by the NGO policy framework. Among the key requirements is the necessity for NGOs to have an identifiable office in Sierra Leone.

As stewards of public trust and resources, the Ministry emphasized the importance of NGOs adhering to prescribed requirements to effectively fulfill their missions while ensuring the judicious use of resources.

In light of these findings, the Ministry issued a directive for the following NGOs to cease operations immediately:

3.Alpha Foundation S/L
4.Association for the Well Being of Rural Communities and Rural Development
5.Centre for Gender, Governance and Development
6.Club Health Actors Sierra Leone
7.Consortium for the Advancement of Rights for the Key Affected Population
8.Development Initiative Program
9.Diamond Child School of Art and Culture
10.Essentials for the Needy
11.Fruitful Health Care Sierra Leone
12.Global Associates for Children in Conflicts
13.Health Care for the Aged
14.Home Food General Services Organisation S/L
15.Institute Mozdahir International
16.Jamil and Nyanda Jaward Foundation
17.Kabia Foundation
18.Lanyi Foundation
19.Life for African Mothers
20.Muyewoh Development
21.Ndegboma Development Organisation
