Information Minister Addresses Disinformation and Assaults on Palestinian Journalists

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor A. Bah, has addressed the Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Saturday 24 February in Istanbul, Turkiye.

Chernor Bah reiterated Sierra Leone’s call for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Palenstine.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Conference of Information Ministers was geared towards addressing attacks and hostilities on journalists and media personalities and fighting disinformation in the ongoing Israeli military operations against Palestine.

Bah noted that Sierra Leone has always been committed to a Free Press and to Freedom of Information, saying that an attack on journalism should never be allowed to stand. He also condemned the rhetoric of forced displacement of Palestinians and all attacks on journalists and media professionals.
He further re-emphasized Sierra Leone’s long standing call for a “two-state solution”, which he said would guarantee a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine.

“In closing, Sierra Leone hereby calls for concerted efforts to explore diplomatic and political avenues geared towards finding a peaceful, just, and lasting solution to this conflict”, he noted.

The Minister was accompanied by Sierra Leone Ambassador to Turkiye, His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, who had earlier participated in the Senior Officials Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
