Speaking at the New City Hall in Freetown on Sunday, 4th December, 2022 the Chairman of the NCRA (National Civil Registration Authority) Board of Authority, Sorie Fofana, assured that the Authority will this month start the issuance of securitised multi-purpose Identity Cards nationwide. He said the exact start-date will be announced by the ‘appropriate authority’.
According to Mr. Fofana, after several years, this is the first time that NCRA will start issuing securitised ID cards to nationals, non-nationals and ECOWAS.
The NCRA Chairman insisted that the contractors (Constrat Systems SL Limited) are ready to start work in earnest. He praised the company for their preparedness to deliver a first-class service to the nation.
He clarified that Parliament has approved the fees to be paid for the different forms of ID cards. The life-span for the National ID cards for Sierra Leonean nationals is five years.
Mr. Fofana commended the Director General and staff of NCRA for a job well done and called on them to continue to make the President proud.
