The award to the ambassador was done by the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Makeni (UNIMAK).

It has a population of over 7000 (seven thousand) students specializing in various fields including public health, computer science, accounting, business administration, mass communication, Law etc.

The award given to Ambassador Omrie Golley at their Mr/Miss UNIMAK can be closely associated to the Ambassador’s outstanding role in the peace negotiations between the rebels and government following the apocalyptic civil war which plunged Sierra Leone and ended in 2002.

Furthermore, Ambassador Omrie Golley has been seriously involved in advancing his initiative of dripping irrigation (which falls perfectly inline with Government Irrigation Master Plan). The initiative results to the current construction of 4 Agric-demonstration centers across the 4 provincial regions of the country in which locals will be trained on a pro-Bono basis by experts in dripping irrigation system.

In another development, a day after the award ceremony, on Sunday 4th December 2022, Ambassador Omrie Golley launched the 1st Student Farm in Makeni. There, he charged other students of other universities across the country to take similar initiative. He donated to the students to help them in getting the necessary equipment required for doing their farming.
