During a well-attended media Cocktail held at Wizard Hall Dambala Road, the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) delegates in Bo has on Friday 18th March 2022, endorsed Hon. Suliwo Moyaba Koroma  as its Mayoral candidate for the party’s next national Local Council elections slated for next year. 

The media cocktail brought media experts from different denominations in the Country.

The event was organized by the Strategic Communications Unit for Hon. Sualiho Koroma with the slogan”my City my Mayor nar Sualiho We Sabi”.

Councillor Abdulrazack Saidu Rajku, National Coordinator,”My City My Mayor Campaign Team” made this known at a news conference on Friday in Bo.

Rajiku said that the choice of Hon.S M Koroma was the best option for the party at the moment because of his outstanding qualities and experience.

“It is in this disposition that we recommend Hon.S. Koroma. to the Bo delegates for endorsement as the next Mayoral candidate of SLPP. “We do same for all the respected and highly revered leaders of our great party; and all-party members across the Southern Region.

“As a loyal stakeholder within the party, we shall not relent in our nationwide campaign, consultation and advocacy till this lofty objective is actualized,” Councillor Rajiku said.

He expressed optimism that the emergence of Hon.Koroma as SLPP next Mayor in Bo would enhance stability within the party and reposition it for resounding victories at all levels, come 2023 general elections.

Hon. Sualiho Monyaba Koroma is a Sierra Leonean politician with over 30 years’ experience in Party Politics and also 10 (ten) years cumulative experience in Parliamentary and executive relations. He has served both the Executive and Parliament at strategic levels. 

At the Parliamentary level, he was elected Member of Parliament from 2012-2018. After the General elections in 2018, he was appointed by His Excellency the President Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio to serve on the Governance Transition Team (GTT).

Hon. Sualiho Koroma is currently the Chief Executive Officer of a multidisciplinary Organization, Planning Green Futures. He is a seasoned supply chain and Project Management Consultant with vast experience working with UN Agencies,( UNICEF, World Food Program), International non-governmental Organizations, and the Private Sector.

He is a member of several professional bodies like the Corporate Institute of Strategic Research (CISR), Abuja, Nigeria, International Union for Conservation of Nature and holds an international master’s degree in public administration and Management. 

On his part, Hon. Sualiho Koroma explained his vision and mission when elected Mayor, citing transforming Bo into smart City, attractive touristic destination with private sector investment and manufacturing. He stressed on working with the Central demarcation, prioritize energy production and sustainability, encourage private investment through tax rebate, and train the middle manpower.

The eloquent, charismatic Mayoral aspirant explained that the generality of Section 20 of the Local Government Act 2004 clearly laid down the functions of the local Councils. To transform the City of Bo and fulfill the mandate of the municipality as constrained in the Local Government Act of 2004, he outlined a Ten-Point plan to serve as the mirror in the schematics of transforming Bo City.

Expanding the colonial boundaries of Bo City to accommodate the current growth and development trajectory, improve revenue generation, maintaining healthy relationship with the Central government, local stakeholders and development partners with openness, accountability and transparency.

 He promised to strengthen public private partnership, promote Greener environment and sustainability in specific areas including waste management, pollution, climate change mitigation and environmental hazard.

The motivational speaker told newsmen that his Leadership will reposition Bo to serve as the center for academic excellence, cultural and arts in the Country.” I’m more than willing to make Bo City a destination for domestic tourism, leverage ICT to make our City a smart City. I will improve recreational facilities in Bo and prioritize women and Youth empowerment including middle manpower training”, he reaffirmed.

He made a disclaimer to the slander and media calumny running out on social media questioning his loyalty and membership to the SLPP and President Julius Maada Bio as baseless, unfounded and untrue. He challenged anyone to put forward strong evidence on the aforementioned factor.
