SLFA, today, officially commenced the 8th Batch of the CAF ‘D’ Diploma Coaching Course at its Secretariat, Kingtom, Freetown.

The CAF ‘D’ Diploma Coaching Development Programme is part of the SLFA’s continued commitment to strengthening the technical capacity of coaches across the country and developing a new generation of qualified football coaches in line with CAF standards.

Speaking during the opening ceremony to 35 participants drawn from across the country, SLFA Technical Director, John Edward Keister, stated that the course is a continuous learning process aimed at identifying and addressing weaknesses of coaches in the areas of organization, technique, coaching education and awareness to meet modern football development demands.

“The aim of this course is to equip our grassroots coaches with the fundamentals of coaching, build their competence, and ensure they are better prepared to nurture talents from the community level to the elite level,” the TD mentioned.

This marks the eighth time the SLFA has organized the CAF ‘D’ Diploma Course, providing more local coaches with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills, and coaching competencies.

The course will run for one week and will combine both theoretical and practical sessions, as well as internships, designed to equip participating coaches with the necessary tools and methodology to advance their coaching careers and contribute to football development in Sierra Leone.
