The Sierra Leone Football Association has officially announced a vacancy for the position of Head Coach of the country’s senior men’s national football team, Leone Stars.

In a public notice issued by the Association, the SLFA invited applications from suitably qualified candidates to take charge of the technical direction and overall performance of the national team in all international competitions and engagements.

According to the Association, the successful candidate will be responsible for key areas including team selection, match preparation, tactical leadership, and the organisation of training camps. The role will also require close collaboration with the SLFA Technical Department and the Team Manager to ensure effective team management.

The SLFA outlined several core responsibilities for the position, including providing strong technical leadership, defining the team’s playing philosophy, and preparing the squad for international fixtures. The Head Coach will also be tasked with planning and supervising training programmes and scouting activities, monitoring player performance, and maintaining a competitive and balanced team.

Additionally, the coach will be expected to align with the Association’s technical policies and long-term football development frameworks, while regularly submitting technical and performance reports.

In terms of qualifications, applicants must possess a CAF A License, UEFA Pro License, or an equivalent FIFA-recognised coaching certification in line with the CAF Coaching Convention. Candidates are also required to have between five to ten years of experience at senior level, preferably with a national team or top-tier club, along with a proven track record of competitive success.

The Association further noted that strong knowledge of modern coaching methods, tactical expertise, and player management skills are essential for the role. Experience within African football or similar environments will be considered an added advantage. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate leadership, discipline, the ability to work under pressure, and strong communication skills.

Interested candidates are required to submit a curriculum vitae, copies of relevant coaching qualifications, a brief technical proposal outlining their coaching philosophy, and at least two professional references.

Applications should be addressed to the Secretariat of the Sierra Leone Football Association at 21 Battery Street in Freetown or submitted via the Association’s official email addresses.

The deadline for applications is May 12, 2026, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
