SLCB Makes Huge Donation to Tourist Board

The nation’s largest and most profitable financial institution, the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank rose up impressively once again to their corporate social responsibility on Tuesday 5th October, 2021 by donating a large quantity of assorted cleaning tools and materials to the National Tourist Board to enhance the cleaning of Lumley beach and other beaches in the western area and Lungi.

The SLCB Risk Officer, Abdul Rahim Mujtabah who said it is not strange for SLCB to be present in every community and activity, noted that whether they want to boast or not, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank is present in every community in Sierra Leone by any parameter.

He assured that SLCB is very conscious of the environment that we live in, the importance of biodiversity and the threat posed to it by human activity.

On the importance of Lumley beach among other beaches in the Western Area, he said Lumley beach is strategic and the first place visitors talk about.

Interference with nature, Abdul Rahim Mujtabah said affects the livelihood and entertainment of people who use Lumley Beach. SLCB he said decided to intervene because they are aware this threat and are willing to help address it.

Providing an assortment of cleaning tools to the National Tourist Board, he said will help greatly to address the situation.

NTB General Manager, Mrs. Fatmata Carew expressed thanks to SLCB, whom she said observed a need and responded to it. She said NTB knocked on many doors but only SLCB came has been able to lead by giving back to Sierra Leone in this way.

SLCB’s action she said showed that the Bank serves the people. She recalled the effort of the Late SLCB MD, Fidelis Turay who pioneered the Bank’s intervention.
