Sierra Leone is set to receive hundreds of West African nationals deported from the United States under a newly established migration arrangement, according to official reports.
The agreement, announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba, will see Sierra Leone host deportees originating from several West African countries as part of broader regional migration cooperation measures.
Under the arrangement, the first group of returnees—comprising 25 individuals from Senegal, Ghana, Guinea, and Nigeria—is expected to arrive in Sierra Leone on May 20.
The deportations are linked to efforts by the United States government to accelerate the removal of undocumented migrants through third-country agreements, a mechanism that allows individuals to be returned to partner states in the region.
